LABNOTES 05.02.07 -> dublab presents: freeways...now on itunes...

dublab presents: freeways

Six years after its initial release on Emperor Norton Records dublab is proud to announce the digital re-release of its first compilation album, "dublab presents: freeways." This visionary collection, produced by frosty & Carlos NiƱo, gave the world an early taste of many, now-familiar artists and defined dublab’s future roots aesthetic. "freeways" is an inspired view into Los Angeles’ vibrant musical landscape. It is a living time capsule that remains light years ahead.

The landscape presented on "freeways" is expansive. Glowing pockets of beauty from the wide sprawl of Los Angeles are merged into a unified spectrum. These diverse, progressive songs reflect every shade of creative California soul and provide a roadmap to infinite adventure. "dublab presents: freeways" continues to speed sweetly into the future.

LABNOTES 04.30.07 -> power to the people...

dear dubhead,

"The smallest things are the most magical," he said to the crowd with the greatest of confident grins. They stood mesmerized, more wrapped up in his words than the dust whipping around them. He climbed higher on the courtroom steps with each milestone. He was four steps up with six to go. The arc of his pitch was a beautiful thing and he glowed while curving higher. "In fact the most powerful force in the universe is invisible. In its presence mountains are miniature, cannons blast soft breaths and lightning strikes insignificant." The crowd whispered but only briefly before their gazes transfixed again on the charismatic gent scaling the steps before them. "I will now unleash this monumental energy before your very eyes but you will see nothing for as I said this force is invisible." Some children hid in their mothers' skirts while others crept closer with curiosity. The man closed his eyes like curtains and let the anticipation crackle. When he opened them again the lids fluttered with the wind passing through his lips. A single note rang out, rose, and then lifted again in a melody made from the moment. The crowd's eyes widened, their skin tingled and muscles tensed. A gasp almost escaped but froze. In a flash the collective energy plummeted like a pigeon hitting glass. The man of the moment held his melody true as the crowd grumbled and dispersed, for he knew his message to be true, music was the greatest force in the universe and someday he would perfect his pucker and the world would feel the pure power of his invisible song.

dear dubhead,

Look at what you did! You got all adventurous and broke through the barriers of boring media. Better watch your back! Those corporate vampires are bound to be hot on your trail. They don't let brainwash targets slip through their tentacles so easily. Big money ad bucks need something to suck on and your brain is ripe for the reaping. Don't fret though because we've developed a highly advanced forcefield to protect all dubheads. As long as you stay in close contact with our positive transmissions you'll be totally invisible to the evil out there in the Badland$.

LABNOTES 04.02.07 -> you can shift yourself...

hello dubhead!

If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be? Would you choose to grow extra large satellite ears to pick up distant ditties and alien dinner table conversations in high detail? Would you prefer to have thick, invisible fur covering your entire body so you can sport summertime shortpants in deep winter without catching a chill or critical gaze? How about supreme self-confidence to take on the world with grand schemes and wild flings? Oh oh oh I know, you might want a deep baritone voice that perfectly resonates with boulders so that everytime you visit the mountains they shake, rattle and roll with your magnificent mouth magic. Whatever personal modifications you dream up know that we stand beside you cheering on your metamorphosis.
